Farrington Oils are the original ‘seed to bottle’ producer of Mellow Yellow cold pressed rapeseed oil.

The Goal An award winning, LEAF Marque accredited company, Farrington Oils were keen to enhance their ‘Green’ credentials, reduce their carbon footprint, reduce their electricity costs and future proof against potential energy price rises at their manufacturing facility in Hargrave.

The solution To help achieve these goals we installed two separate solar PV systems, one on the Oil Factory and one on the New Barn, in September 2018, with a combined estimated annual generation in excess of 31,000kWh pa and CO2 reduction of over 16 tonnes pa.

The equipment included 80 Hanwha QCells 315Wp solar panels, a Solis 25kW inverter and Schletter mounting system on the Oil Factory and 35 Hanwha QCells 315Wp solar panels and a Solis 10kW inverter and Renusol, Metasole mounting system.

The challenge on this particular project was that one building had an asbestos roof, so we worked with a specialist asbestos removal company, Oracle Solutions. Oracle drilled 140 holes into the asbestos cement roof of the barn building. All works were undertaken in strict accordance with all the current and relevant legislation, statutory regulations, approved codes of practice and all relevant guidance documents and all the waste arising from the works was disposed of in accordance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2015.
