Plug Me In partners with Panasonic to deliver sustainable heating solutions to ScottishPower Customers
Plug Me In is excited to announce its collaboration with Panasonic to provide Aquarea heat pumps as part of ScottishPower’s clean heating customer offering. The new partnership will deliver accessible heating solutions across the UK.
Panasonic’s commitment to deliver low carbon heating solutions continues, in its new collaborative role. Over the last 18 months, ScottishPower has installed over 3,000 heat pumps in houses across England, Scotland and Wales, utilising government grants and the ECO4 scheme.
“It is now more affordable than ever to access sustainable heating solutions in the home,” says Jose Alves, Regional Director for Panasonic UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. “With the help of government grants like the BUS scheme and the ECO4 initiative, homeowners are supported in their green transition. Thanks to our new partnership with Plug Me In and ScottishPower, we are proving that anyone can make this change.”
In this future-proofed approach to residential heating, engineers from ScottishPower’s installer company, Plug Me In, will install Panasonic Aquarea L or J Series air-to-water heat pumps with Panasonic Smart Cloud controls for customers on behalf of the ScottishPower Customer Business in the UK. Looking to make this transition as simple as possible for customers, Panasonic will make available their wide range of Aquarea units to Plug Me In to ensure the correct size of heat pump is installed in each home. Plug Me In currently has 23 installers throughout the UK, all with Panasonic training to install the heat pumps.
Rob McGaughey, Head of Smart Heat and Cities at ScottishPower, said, “We’re thrilled to see Plug Me In join our nationwide network to install market leading heat pumps, like the Panasonic Aquarea. Customer feedback has been really positive. With thousands of heat pumps installed by ScottishPower across England, Wales and Scotland, we know heat pumps are making a difference to customers across the nation, particularly those who rely on government support schemes to create warmer, healthier homes.”
Steve Challinor, Director of Technical Services for Plug Me In added, “Since working with Panasonic, we have found that they consistently deliver reliable units and offer one of the most energy efficient systems on the market, that’s why the Panasonic Aquarea L or J Series heat pumps are a leading choice. The new L Series offers a seamless design and install, and the wide range of units enables a suitable product for all homes regardless of size. Panasonic’s back-up technical support has been invaluable over the past 6 months of working together. We have been impressed with the team and the products and look forward to growing this collaboration, together delivering smarter energy for all, across the UK.”
Government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and Energy Company Obligation 4 (ECO4) are offered for the transition from gas boiler to heat pumps, resulting in lower upfront customer costs for installations, particularly for vulnerable and low-income families. Upgrades will be provided to homes for no additional cost with ScottishPower’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) government scheme. Homeowners in England and Wales are also eligible for the UK Government BUS grant as well as ScottishPower’s Heat Pump Saver tariff.
The new Panasonic L Series Aquarea heat pump delivers water outlet temperatures of 75°C down to -10°C and SCOP of up to 5.6, upholding excellent efficiency and earning an A+++ Energy Class. In addition, the units can be more easily and quickly retrofitted into older properties with existing radiators.
Built with Wi-Fi included, the L Series empowers homeowners with effortless management of their heating systems through real-time monitoring and intuitive, intelligent controls. The Panasonic Smart Cloud control system uses consumption tracking and remote diagnostics to reduce the inconvenience of waiting for an appointment with an expert installer. Open Energy Monitor will also be available for any UK member in the system to access open-source energy monitoring, from advanced consumption to performance.
