Q. How do Air Source Heat Pumps work?

A. Air source heat pumps are a smart, green way to provide eco-friendly heating and hot water to our homes.

The easiest way to think about it is like a reverse fridge. Where a refrigerator pulls in air and removes heat, expelling warm air it doesn't want, a heat pump uses a refrigerant gas to absorb heat outside, then compresses it to become hot and transfers that heat indoors. This warms up water stored in a tank inside your home, which is then used to heat your radiators and your hot water.

They are generally 3-4 times more energy efficient than traditional fossil fuel systems, like gas boilers, and they run entirely on electricity, which makes them one of the greenest options around.

The heat pumps we install are no louder than a quiet fridge. Our install teams will position the outdoor unit in a location that is most likely to further minimise any sound from the system. And the rest of the kit located inside, is virtually silent when running.
